I know I lured you in with the title...I will get to it in a minute.
We awoke in Fort Sumner this morning to a very cold morning. Okay, maybe it wasn't really that cold, but it was cold enough that we had to turn on the heat to take the chill out of the air. We also discovered that we had left the car we were pulling in the wrong setting and the battery was completely dead. No worries. We have the obligatory WalMart trip on every vacation. Ronnie decided we needed to stop some time today to buy a battery charger so we could hook it up tonight.
We made it all the way to Gallup, New Mexico, before pulling into the WalMart parking lot. At this point I was distracted. Wanted to change out of tennis shoes into flip-flops. Ronnie was driving so when he looked up after parking, there was a man standing in front of our RV looking in the windshield at him. Oooookay....When he got to the door and opened it the guy was at the door! All I knew is that Ronnie opened the door and immediately started talking to someone. I stepped out and there he stood with his hands in his pockets and a goofy look on his face. He said, "So, how do you like this Hurricane (our RV is a Thor Hurricane)?" Ronnie told him we really like it and enjoy traveling in it. He stood there for a second and rambled something about having some kind of vehicle that he's put a lot of work and money into. Then he said he had seen a Hurricane for sale for $7,500. You could tell he wanted to know what we paid for ours, but, it wasn't any of his business so we just looked at him. Then he said, "So, what year is it?" Ronnie told him it was a 2011 model. He said, "Oh, so it's fairly new." Well, duh, genius! Then he just stood there for a full minute without saying anything. It was a really long, really uncomfortable silence. Then Ronnie said, "Well, we have to get into the store to buy some stuff." Stalker guy said, "Me, too," and began following us across the parking lot. He walked into the store right behind us, got a basket and was following us before we hooked it to the back of the store! We managed to lose him in WM, got our stuff, got in the RV and got the heck out of Gallup!
We drove a while longer until we made it past Flagstaff to a KOA campground in Williams, AZ. The last time we stayed here we got 8 inches of snow! In May! The owner guy did tell us we would probably need our heat tonight since it will get down into the lower 50s if not upper 40s! Hopefully, though, no snow this time! Just beautiful trees and a quiet, calming camping experience.
Tomorrow...it's on to Vegas where we will stay until next Saturday.
Till tomorrow...~cheers!
