We got up this morning ready to go for a walk on the beach with Beau. We've been looking forward to this day for weeks...literally. Ronnie had researched the area and found that they have "dog-friendly beaches." So we headed out. First, let me state that almost every human being in San Diego must have decided to spend the day on the beach. Parking was ridiculous! Not only that...it was so foggy this morning that you literally could not see the surfers in the water. But after finding a parking place we headed out to the water...only to notice a sign prohibiting dogs on the beach. Hmmm...So, we returned to the car and Ronnie googled "dog friendly beaches in San Diego" and got a hit on another beach that "welcomes" dogs. Not so much. Dogs were only welcome up to the beach wall...not on the beach itself. So...the city that proclaims that it is full of dog friendly beaches is not, in fact, welcoming to dogs. We were miffed. But what can you do? We did notice one restaurant that allowed people to bring their dogs in with them, but we had just eaten breakfast and didn't want booze at 10:00 in the morning. So, we took Beau back to the RV and after a bit we headed out to the grocery store. We stocked up on our needs and returned to the RV again. After lunch...and a little bit of NCIS marathon...we headed back out to find a beach for us to walk on and stick our toes in the Pacific. We found one. Beautiful La Jolla beach offered us a chance to walk in the sand, stick our feet in the water, climb on the rocks and sit and enjoy watching the tide come in and the waves breaking on the rocks. Absolutely gorgeous view!!! Well, judge for yourself...
Tomorrow we're heading to the San Diego Zoo. After so many years of seeing the animals that were brought from there to The Tonight Show, we couldn't imagine coming all this way and not going to the zoo. We are, after all, zoo fan(atic)s! I think I have a photo of every animal in every zoo in the south! That may be a slight exaggeration...but not much of one.
