That would be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday...
We started for home on Tuesday morning. Leaving San Diego's beauty behind was difficult. We loved the sights and sounds of that city. And the beaches...well, I already told you about that...
Leaving San Diego in the rearview mirror meant three days off driving. We drove around 8 hours each day...switching drivers about every three hours. I had the "pleasure" of driving through a mountain pass in San Diego county. It was a very steep descent with roadside signs stating that there were "gusty winds" blowing through the pass. What an understatement! The wind was blowing us all over the road! It would have been difficult in a car but in a high profile vehicle it was ridiculous!!! But the driving was pleasant and we made it all the way from San Diego to about an hour past Tucson, Arizona the first day. We stayed in a little town called Willcox, AZ, and the sunset was absolutely breath-taking. I'll find and post that photo later.
On Wednesday we left Willcox and drove all the way to Pecos, Texas...through Arizona and New Mexico. We stayed in an RV park that was small and simple and the RVs closely parked which turned out to be a good thing. Each RV served to cushion the others from the storm that blew in during the middle of the night. Torrential rains and winds rocking the RV like there was a New Year's party going on inside. Didn't bother me too terribly much...I fell back asleep with the rocking motion of the RV and the sound of rain on the skylights. Slept like a baby ~_~.
Today, we got up, pulled out and drove the remainder of the way home. The driving was fine...until we got to Ft. Worth. Not only was there bumper-to-bumper traffic, there were idiots with licenses to drive. One woman decided to leave the far left lane to make an immediate exit. She cut across three lanes of traffic right in front of me. I missed her by inches. I despise stupid people. She is now at the top of my list. Word of advice: NOTHING is important enough to risk your life for. Go to the next exit. Put your damn phone down and quit texting, talking, etc. RVs are big, heavy vehicles and they do not stop on a dime...add the extra weight of the car being towed behind and it takes more than a couple of feet to get the thing stopped. Don't pull in front of them and don't cut them off unless you have a death wish.
Anyway, we made it home a few minutes after 5:00 p.m. and unloaded the RV. I started the laundry and we will work on washing the RV and cleaning it up this weekend. In the meantime....we need to plan another trip! This one was awesome!!!
