Daughtry and Daughter(s)

This past weekend was a fun one. It was the first time that I have taken the RV out without the hubs there to hook everything up on the outside...but I'm getting ahead of myself.

I am a big fan of Chris Daughtry. Love his music and his values. So imagine how excited I was to learn that he was bringing his show to Winstar! The problem was the date. Ronnie officiates football in the fall and so he couldn't go with me on a Friday night. I didn't really want to go by myself so when I mentioned it, Kristin said she would go with me. To gamble...not to the concert. That's okay. I would have someone to keep me awake on the drive home. Then Kristin said that her friend, Jen Binnings, might want to go, too. She did. Awesome! We decided to take the motorhome and spend the night. I looked soooo forward to this trip...both for the time with the girls and the concert!

Friday, travel day came, and Kristin took the afternoon off work. She got to the house a little afte 1:00 and we headed out. It was an uneventful drive and we had a great time to laugh and visit. We got to Oklahoma a bit after 3:00 and began to hook up.  No REAL problems there. We had a problem getting the AC to come on, but it was the breakers at the RV park...not us. They weren't connecting completely at first. Jen arrived about 5 minutes after us and brought beverages and we sat in the RV talking and connecting. About 5:00 we caught the shuttle over to the casino. On this particular day I could do no wrong. Every machine I played was paying me a little bit of money. I had parlayed my original $20 into about $60 whenI needed to head for the concert. I stopped off at one more machine and immediately hit a $75 bonus! YAY!!!!

The concert itself was amazing. Daughtry is so talented and he sang all his songs that I love. He was very high energy and in constant motion! Incredible concert! Afterwards I found the girls, we gambled a bit more and finally headed back to the RV. I ended the day up $100!

Back at the RV we talked for a bit and then went to bed. I went to sleep. I think the girls stayed up talking a laughing for a while, but I'm cranky when I'm tired so I crashed!

Saturday we got up and the girls got us coffee while I unhooked and readied the RV to move to the casino parking lot so that we could gamble a bit more without worrying about a check out time. I should have stayed in the RV! That $100 I was up...they got it all back! This day I could do nothing right. Only gambled for a couple of hours...but that's all it took. It's okay, though. Basically I played all weekend on their money, so that's a win in my book!

Jen left us to drive to Longview to spend the weekend with her parents.  BTW, happy birthday to Jen's dad! Kristin and I had lunch...a delicious cheeseburger that took FOREVER for them to make. Probably not, but we were really hungry. After lunch we played one more game and Kristin finally was able to win a big bonus so we were happy...decided to cut our losses and headed back.

The drive back was uneventful until I had to come to a sudden stop in Denton. A 32 foot motorhome does NOT come to sudden stop without consequences...which in this case resulted in the knife block (and a few other things) flying off the counter and toward us! Fortunately we did not die of sudden impact knife wounds! No blood was spilled. Kristin picked everything up while I continued to drive. Brave girl, that one! We got back to Rockwall and Kristin headed home. By the end of the evening I had all the RV laundry done and ready to put back. Now, after a little bit of cleanup (sweep and mop floors, clean shower and toilet) the RV will be ready for another trip! Ronnie and I are going to try to get away for 4-5 days in October...just to relax and enjoy the fall. Hopefully it will be a bit cooler by the time we head out! I just want to sit outside, nap, read, take a walk and chill in general!

Till next time...~cheers!
