Day 14: June 20, 2013

Our last full day in Grand Teton National Park...and we made the most of it. After breakfast we headed to Jenny Lake to go hiking. We boarded a boat that takes people across the lake to the base of the mountains. From there we hiked in about 1/2 mile or so to Hidden Falls. Breath-taking! Hidden in the nooks and crannies of the mountains is this fabulous waterfall. It is incredible in its beauty and in its power. Thunderous roars from the water as it pours over the top and crashes down among the rocks. Arguably one of the most beautiful sights I have seen!

After Hidden Falls we continued hiking to Inspiration Point. The boat captain said it was 500 feet higher in elevation than Hidden Falls. Yep! It felt it!! At times the trail was so narrow that two people could not walk past each other. Once we got to the top, however, we were looking over the entire side of the mountain, Jenny Lake and the visitor's center where our trek began. Beautiful!

At the conclusion of our trip up and back down the mountain we drove to Moose for lunch. There was a cool little diner type set up outside that was called the Chuckwagon. The food was great! Again, we ate outdoors and shivered in the cold breeze.

On the drive back to the RV we took a side tour up to the summit of Signal Mountain. The views from the top of Signal Mountain were incredible...overlooking valleys, hills, rivers, mountainsides of sunflowers... Oddly enough we had cell service up here. That's when we noticed the cell tower located up here and made the connection with the name..."Signal" Mountain. Hmmm. Back down the mountain we headed to the store at our campsite. We bought some souvenirs and food and headed back to the RV where we ate dinner, packed up to pull out in the morning, showered and watched a movie. Another great day of vacation. Tomorrow we begin our journey home. We are planning on taking out time and stopping in either Cheyenne or Denver...or both. We will see what tomorrow brings!
